Position:                     Director, IT Governance
Reports to:                  Chief Information Officer
Job Overview
The Director, IT Governance is a critical interface between the business and IT, collaborating to realize the company’s strategic objectives and driving technical innovation throughout Longo’s.  The incumbent leads the Program Office and is responsible for transformation projects, governance, methodology, process re-engineering and optimization.  This position also plans and supervises the design, development and implementation of organization information systems and software applications.  Reporting to the CIO, the Director of IT Governance is a champion of continuous improvement, and an advocate for sufficient and effective governance and control framework.  Working with the CIO, this role establishes and plans the overall budget, operational expenses, policies, process and goals for the IT department.  The position supervises the Project Management, Business intelligence, business analysis and functional support staff.

  • Sets the overall direction and goals for the team in line with Longo’s strategy.

  • Hires, motivates and develops team members to be the best that they can be by providing regular feedback and completing performance appraisals.
  • Ensures team members understand and comply with company standards, policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Loss Prevention, Food Safety and Human Resource policies.
  • Coaches and trains team members to maintain the highest level of personal and team productivity by ensuring strong technical skills and on-going product knowledge
  • Conducts regular team meetings to ensure strong communication on company initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Establish new strategic relationships with vendors who share our customer first philosophy and long term outlook approach.
Governance & Project Management
  • Lead the Program Office, responsible for all activities associated with transformational projects leveraging technology
  • Establish and measure the effectiveness of all elements of project governance and methodology
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications 
Process Re-engineering and Optimization
  • Interact with all internal department heads and leads in identifying business process weaknesses and driving technical innovation throughout the organization. Implement process improvement and corrective actions as needed
Business & Fiscal Management
  • Interact with all internal department heads and leads in identifying business process weaknesses and driving technical innovation throughout the organization. Implement process improvement and corrective actions as needed 
Service Quality & Relationship Management
  • Establish SLAs with business and track accordingly
  • Champion all continuous service improvement initiatives and maintain high quality in IT services
  • Prepare regular progress reports to senior management of project, service quality and departmental activities
  • Manage the relationships with 3rd party I.T. service and product providers
Health and Safety Leadership
  • Promotes and endorses Safety Vision “Safety is our way of life” in all strategic initiatives and programs
  • Role models the importance of health and safety by always working safely, and calls out and addressed and safety issues.
  • Recognizes risks which may pose a danger to Team Members and customers and resolves such issues (where possible) or modifies work, mitigating the risk to Team Member/customer until resolution can be sourced and implemented.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Credentials

  • A college or university degree in computers / technology
  • IITL Certification (or strong knowledge/exposure)
  • A minimum of 8 years in an IT leadership role as well as a minimum of 10 years direct experience in IT.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills with both internal and external 3rd party providers
  • Solid experience with leading transformation and change initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively present proposals, budgets etc. to varied audiences
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and develop relationships at multiple levels within the organization
