This past Mother’s Day, it was the “boys” turn to collectively cook dinner for the “girls”.
My Dad showed up with fabulous fruit trays from Longo’s.
My husband showed up with show-stopping appetizers.
My brother-in-law showed up with an impressive, homemade 12-layer lasagna (he even made the sauce from scratch!).
My brother simply…just showed up.
The morning started off great with being treated to having my Tim’s coffee brought right to me (Who am I kidding? That happens every weekend!). While I sipped my coffee, I got to open all my homemade and store-bought Mother’s Day presents.
While I have to say thanks to the teachers for all of the creative Mother’s Day crafts, my favourite one has to be the recipe card for Melt-in-Your-Mouth Chocolate Chip Cookies. I’m sure the heartfelt intention was to share a Kodak moment in the kitchen while making the cookies with the kids. What actually happened was…the very next day (which happened to be a P.A. Day, thank you very much) I finished work and thought I could spend some quality time with the kids. “Let’s make those cookies!” I said. To which, my loving children replied, “Great, let us know when they’re ready!”
They were melt-in-your-mouth and they were melt-into-your-thighs. I did enjoy a Kodak moment all to myself when I got to lick the cookie-dough bowl since no one else was around LOL.
Today I am gearing up for my first ever ice hockey game. I am giddier than the day after Labour Day when the kids go back to school! All I have to do is stay awake as game time is 9:30 p.m. What were they thinking?
