Everyone has their version of “fright night”. This is the night where there is an extreme rush to get home from work, check completed homework, sign forms for school trips, make a healthy and nutritious dinner and get everyone out the door and to their respective activities, on time. For some, “fright night” occurs several nights of the week.
But there is one night of the year, where the term “fright night” truly applies. That’s right…Halloween. Not only is it customary to dress up ourselves and our houses in ghoulish and scary outfits and decorations, but also, the “fright night” term applies to getting everyone fed, dressed in their costumes, makeup applied just so, and out the door to go trick-or-treating. The excitement of the kids is overwhelming. There are usually extra kids at your home that appear out of seemingly nowhere to feed and help dress up as well. Not only that, but there’s also the eager beavers who start trick-or-treating at 4:30pm (in order to beat the rush? in order to be done by dark?)! Not only are you juggling math questions, “where’s my witches hat” questions, and “what’s for dinner” questions, you are also answering the door and trying to hand out candies. “Where did I put the candies?” “What do you mean I ate them all and was supposed to buy another box???” (oops, forgot about that one). Suddenly, you become a witch and you haven’t even put your costume on yet!
This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday night. That should take some of the pressure off. If you are like me and want to stick to the traditional pizza rescue, Longo’s has 3 great offers to make your life easier. There’s the take-home 16” cheese and pepperoni pizza for $9.99 which includes a FREE case of Longo’s Water (Oct 30-31 only). There’s the bake your own Longo’s 12” frozen pizza (5 Cheese, Mediterranean Grilled Vegetable, Chicken and Pesto). And, because this Halloween falls on a Saturday and you might have more time to make your own pizza, we are offering FREE Longo’s Pizza Dough when you purchase a Longo’s Mozzarella Ball! How awesome is that?!?
Now that the food is taken care of, this year Halloween will give new meaning to the term “fright night”. Because it’s a Saturday night, we can’t tell the kids that there’s school in the morning and to stop eating candy and go to bed. OMG, if they actually realize it’s also Daylight Savings Time which means they gain an extra hour, this could be really frightening!
P.S. Longo’s has two new Nut-Free products that are perfect to send to school for those Halloween parties: Longo’s All Butter Shortbread Nutfree Cookies and Lunch Friends Nutfree Sugar Cookies.
