March Madness

  As we’re heading into March Break, I’ll be “unplugging” myself for a bit in order to “recharge”. I can’t believe the unbelievable amount of work that has to be done in order to take time off from work and get your family ready to go away! What happened to the days where you simply told the paper boy to stop delivery for a week? There isn’t EVEN a paper boy anymore! Whatever happened to throwing a few t-shirts and bathing suits into a bag and hopping on a plane? I’m very fortunate to be getting away from it all with my family, but the stress involved in preparing to get away is enough to put me away

There’s two schools of thought when it comes to March Break…you either look forward to a trip away and scramble to get everything accomplished before leaving or you scramble to find March Break camps and activities for the kids if the thought of having them home for a week leaves little to look forward to

For this week’s flyer article, I wrote about the madness of getting away for March Break and the ensuing madness upon returning. So whether you are getting away from the madness or staying home within the madness, try to find some time to take a break from the everyday…

For those of you fortunate to be getting away for a little adventure from the everyday (note: you must read this REALLY fast)...
You wake up one morning and decide to book a trip.
You check this airline, you check that airline;
this resort, that resort.
They’re all so expensive. You book anyway.
You wake up at 3am to catch your flight. “You packed too much. It won’t all fit,” your husband says. “Yes it will,” you say.
"No it won’t”. “Yes it will.”
You remove half his stuff and rearrange the car and somehow it all fits.

You wait in a 3-hour line at the airport, pray your bags meet the weight requirements for the flight (and your weight meets your bathing suit requirements for the beach), endure a 5-hour flight south to finally arrive at your destination when
Manuel offers you a frothy drink with an umbrella that is made with fresh mango! You’ve died and gone to heaven!

On the flight home you reminisce about a wonderful vacation and soak up that feeling of relaxation until unrelaxing thoughts pop into your mind…”the piles of laundry, back to work, meetings, appointments, have to make lunch for the kids…OMG, there’s no food in the house…must fit in a trip to Longo’s…”

Then, you breathe a sigh of relief when you realize that you placed your order from Longo’s Grocery Gateway online delivery service before you left and your groceries will be delivered to your door upon your arrival back home! Now you are ready to get back to reality.

All you need to add to the Longo’s list is those exotic fruits that you tried on the islands so you can indulge in a break from the daily routine and madness. Welcome home.

On that note, I’m going to place my Grocery Gateway order NOW and I’m adding mangoes and golden pineapple to the list!

So true Rosanne, it is very stressful before and after a vacation, but the benefits of being on vacation is so great, being with your family, soaking up the sun, not having to work, cook, clean, just having fun and getting away from the everyday.
Take me with you.........  have a great time !!! Bring me back some sunshine, sand and a seashell. (I want the soft beach sand, not the beach sand you were talking about!!!)
