What you’ll do
Encompassing the five flavour elements – salty (water), bitter (fire), sour (wood), sweet (Earth) and spicy (metal) – Vietnamese cuisine offers a symphony of flavours. French colonization from the 18th century has had a lasting effect on the flavours of their cuisine. Pho Soup and Bahn Mi Sandwiches are popular examples. Chef/Culinary Instructor John Bela will prepare a Vietnamese menu including Five-Spice Pork Lettuce Wraps, Chicken Pho Soup with all the traditional garnishes, Lemongrass Chicken and Caramel Pork with Coconut Jasmine Rice. Dessert will be Fried Banana Beignets with Condensed Milk and Ginger-Mascarpone Dip.
