Apple Cheddar Sprouts Slaw

1 lb Brussels sprouts or 1 pkg (400g) Longo's Halved Brussels Sprouts

1 large red apple, diced

1 cup grated old white cheddar cheese

1/2 cup Longo's Dried Cranberries

1/2 cup Longo’s Chopped Pecans or slivered almonds, toasted (optional)


1/4 cup Longo's Apple Cider Vinegar

2 tbsp minced shallot or red onion

2 tbsp grainy Dijon mustard

2 tbsp Longo's Maple Syrup

2 tsp Longo's Prepared Horseradish

1/2 tsp each salt and pepper

1/2 cup Longo's 100% Pure Canola Oil


  • Halve sprouts (if needed); slice halved sprouts, crosswise, into a coarse shred. Combine with apple, cheese, cranberries and pecans (if using).
  • Dressing
  • Whisk vinegar with shallot, mustard, maple syrup, horseradish, salt and pepper; whisk in oil until combined. Toss the sprout mixture with dressing to combine. (Make-ahead - Chill for up to 1 day before serving.)
  • Tip
  • If making ahead, choose an Ontario red apple that is less likely to brown, such as Empire, Courtland, Ambrosia or Gala.
