Please Note: While most tomatoes arrive in wooden bushels, some locations receive tomatoes in boxes. Packaging may vary, but the quantity and quality will remain consistent.

Celebrating 70 Years of Tomato Traditions

For 70 years, Longo's has been proud to be part of the family traditions that bring generations together around great food. Each summer, generations gather in kitchens to make homemade tomato sauce, prepare passata, and preserve the flavours of the season using fresh, peak-season tomatoes.

As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, we're honoured to continue supporting these cherished traditions. Whether you're carrying on a recipe that's been passed down through generations or starting a new tradition of your own, Longo's is here with the fresh ingredients and quality products that help make every batch memorable.

From fresh Roma tomatoes and fragrant basil to canning essentials, we're proud to be part of the moments, recipes, and traditions that families return to year after year.

Passatta Made Easy

Prep The Tomatoes

Wash those juicy beauties, remove the stems, and chop them up.  No need to be perfect, just get them pot ready!

Tip: Set aside any bruised or overripe tomatoes to ensure the best flavour.

Simmer & Soften

Place the tomatoes in a large pot and simmer gently for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re soft and saucy. Your kitchen will smell amazing.

Pass The Passata

Run the cooked tomatoes through a food mill to separate the skins and seeds.  What's left is silky smooth passatta gold.

For a finer texture, pass it through a second time.

Bottle The Love

Add a fresh basil leaf to each jar, then pour in your passata. Seal tightly and process in a water bath to lock in the taste of summer all year long. Properly sealed, your jars can be enjoyed for up to two years.
