Kid's Classes and Camps

Absolutely! Children at our cooking camp get to enjoy the delicious dishes they create for lunch. It’s important to prioritize food safety, so any hot or cold items are meant to be enjoyed on-site. However, kids are welcome to bring home their baked goods and treats that don’t require specific temperature control. This way, they can proudly share their culinary creations with family and friends!

Click to expand this section While we take care to exclude nuts from our children’s classes, it's important to note that The Loft Cooking School is not completely allergy or nut-free. If your child has any food allergies, sensitivities or dietary restrictions, we ask that you get in touch with our Loft Coordinator before the class. We're committed to making every effort to accommodate your child’s needs, but we want to be transparent that we can't guarantee absolute avoidance of allergen contact. Your child’s well-being is our priority, and we appreciate your proactive communication to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at Longo’s cooking camp.

Our kids cooking camps are ideal for children in grades 1 through 6. Children must be a minimum of 6 years or a maximum of 12 years old to attend Longo’s cooking camp.

Yes, we provide a range of cooking classes that cater to various age groups. Our offerings include Parent and Tot classes (ages 1-3), Parent and Child classes (ages 4-6), as well as Teen classes designed for youngsters aged 13 to 17 years - it’s an excellent opportunity to enhance culinary skills and enjoy the art of cooking at every life stage.

To ensure a consistent experience for all participants, we ask that no outside food or beverages be brought to cooking camp classes held in The Loft or within Longo’s seating areas. Should you desire additional refreshments, we ask that they be purchased from our store. We do, however, encourage the use of refillable water bottles. This policy ensures that everyone can enjoy a safe culinary experience while maintaining the high standards we set for our cooking camp environment.

Before dropping off your child at the class, you will be required to review and sign a Release of Liability and Waiver Form. The Loft Coordinator will provide you with a form at drop off, and it must completed before the child can enter the class. If you wish to fill out the form in advance, you can print a copy of the Release of Liability and Waiver Form and bring the completed form with you.

Flexibility is important to us! If you need to adjust your Loft cooking camp reservation, whether it’s changing the date, time, adding or removing participants, or considering a cancellation, our dedicated Guest Care team is here to assist you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, either by email or phone, to make modifications to your reservation. Modifications can be made up to 48 hours before the camp is scheduled to begin.

Our In-store Cooking Classes for Kids are children drop off classes, designed for kids grades 1-6 as of Sept of the current year. If your child does not meet this age requirement (6 and above, or turning 6 and entering Grade 1 by September of the current year), the child should not be registered for classes. If, upon drop off, a registered child is confirmed to be below the age requirement, The Loft Coordinator has the right to refuse entry to the class.

No, our classes and camps are designed as drop-off programming. Our Loft rooms have a limited capacity, which we reserve for child attendees. Children attending the class will be supervised by one or more Longo’s Team Members.

At most Loft locations there is a seating area outside or near the Loft where you can wait for your child, or feel free to complete your grocery shopping while you wait!

The fee for a Virtual Class is for one device per household. It’s up to you how many people from your household join you during the class. Our Virtual Classes for Kids (recommended for ages 6 and above) involve cooking with kitchen equipment, appliances, and tools. During the class, our menus may require that we melt, cook, bake, or chop ingredients, so supervision and assistance is required to prevent cuts, burns, or other injuries. Depending on the child’s age and cooking abilities, the child may also need help following the recipes, measuring out ingredients, and following the instructions provided by the instructor. It is up to the parent/caregiver to determine what the child can or cannot do independently and how much supervision and assistance will be required. The instructor will cover safety procedures at the beginning of each class and provide reminders as appropriate.

Please note, it is up to the parent/guardian booking the class and supervising the child to make any needed substitutions to the shopping list should the child have an allergy.
